What is Earth Day

Last year we at HALM supported the Earth Day Network with our edition on the 2019 motto "Save the species" - thanks to all of them donate we were able to contribute a considerable amount. We want to achieve this in 2020 with our edition on climate protection! Because the Earth Day Network took on a mission worldwide environmental movement to establish and people to mobilize , to form and to activate . To this end, the Earth Day Network has been working internationally since the first Earth Day in 1970 190 countries with more than 75,000 partners together.

On April 22nd each year the birth hour celebrated this movement: this year it is 50 years Earth Day! Every year this day has a different motto to get up important topics and big problem to make our earth aware.

What does climate change mean

... and what do we have to do with it?

Through the nnaturalGreenhouse effectremain sun raysin the atmosphere that surrounds the earth and outMethane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen is made up“hanging, which generates heat.By the extreme CO2 production a large additional amount arrives on our earth CO2 and methane into the atmosphere, which catches more sun rays and thus more heat is generated.Factors for this are the strong one Methane emissions from cattle , the burning of Fossil fuels , Factories , cars and Planes ...

By 2100 the global temperature will be increase by 3 degrees Celsius . Even now, with an increase of less than half of this value, the consequences of this can be seen. The pandemic and our environment

All the numbers about climate change are very frightening and it is often assumed that the part we humans contribute to it is not that great. But how is the environment now that so much industry, travel and "normal" life have come to a standstill because of COVID-19

  • In China sank Carbon dioxide by at least 25 percent and nitrogen dioxide 37 percent.
  • NASA satellites showed that air pollution was around in the northeastern United States 30 sankk .
  • According toCenter for Energy and Clean Air has happened in India since the lockdown lowest average Nitrogen dioxide pollution ever measured in urban areas during the spring season. Other dangerous pollutants also fell sharply.

According toFederal Environment Agency but do these values Not that these changes longer term are. But maybe governments can use the tragic situation as a starting point for a new era for our earth and act more actively for environmental protection. And maybe we humans also change our consumer behavior, how we travel and how we want to treat our mother earth.
