At HALM we go one step further against the flood of plastic! HALM supports Trash Hero World in projects and cleanups around the globe.
TRASH HERO x HALM
Trash Hero World is a global organisation that is now active in 17 countries with more than 400.000 volunteers worldwide and does valuable work through cleanups and education, especially in Southeast Asia.
We are proud to cooperate with Trash Hero and to have found a partner in this enthusiastic, volunteer-led movement that drives change in communities all over the world, motivating and supporting them to pick up plastic waste and prevent it from being created in the first place.
“We clean. We educate. We change.”
Wherever Trash Hero is active, there are so-called "chapters". Trash Hero has counted over 16.000 cleanups worldwide with 159 official chapters in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan, Singapore, Myanmar, Kuwait, Georgia, Serbia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Poland, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. There, volunteers come together and organise cleanups with great dedication. This not only frees the environment from waste, but also creates a deep understanding of the consequences of the careless handling of waste.
Trash Hero Communities
The latest programme, “Trash Hero Communities”, has been developed further, and various training courses for our volunteers have been created in the local language. Trash Hero is placing an ever greater focus on education and sharing knowledge, because this is how they can raise awareness among the population and bring about a change in thinking in every single person.
Accreditation
In March 2022, Trash Hero World was granted official consultative status at the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) of UNEP. This means they are among the more than 500 NGOs worldwide that are entitled to make contributions and take part in the sessions of UNEA and its subsidiary bodies, such as the Global Major Groups and the Stakeholder Forum. Trash Hero firmly believes that meaningful and lasting change can only be achieved through good cooperation.
What does this mean for your purchase at HALM?
We have been supporting Trash Hero since September 2019.
Each of our HALM straw sets makes a donation, and you too help ensure that waste already out there is collected and then disposed of properly. This also allows new chapters to be founded, with even more helping hands and awareness of plastic avoidance and environmental protection. This is exactly where HALM comes in:
Because every HALM set makes a donation, and every donation supports further cleanups and less waste in nature.
